dazzle the pervert, monochromatically.

This place will probably give me one heck of a headache.
But existing in this chaos is definitely worth every bang.

This bar opened just a few weeks ago @ the Hotel Americano, New York.

As a temporary space the designer treated the space as something
practically packed into a suitcase as it has the proportions of the original
Bar Oppenheimer in Frankfurt.

Same furniture.
Same lights.
Same radiators.
Same details.

but instead of DROWNING in original Red Illumination
this time your engulfed in STRIPES.

Implementing the technique of
"dazzle camouflage",
one used in World War I to make it difficult for
soldiers to pinpoint  a target is now
helping ladies dodge drunken perverts.

handmade.

We live in a world where everything can be mass produced,
and pretty much everything is made by computers and machines.
With that being said, there is an awe in the beauty of handmade pieces.

They have an "aura" if you will and just thinking a human could
be as precise and even more delicate than laser is incredible.

'Made in Brooklyn' is an ongoing video series by Brooklyn-based
photographer and director Dustin Cohen.

This series is a celebration and showcase of an (almost) lost artistry,
the soul in handmade goods.

''I think there's been this resurgence within people to seek out things ‘Made in America’. Even more so here in New York City, consumers seem to really enjoy objects that have a ‘Made in New York’ or ‘Made in Brooklyn’ tag. People are drawn to things that are created by an actual person and not a mysterious factory thousands of miles away. Getting to buy a product directly from the person making it, interacting with them, it's all part of the experience and people take a lot away from that.''

''Between online sites like Etsy, and places like The Brooklyn Flea and Renegade Craft Fair, there are more opportunities for these craftspeople and artisans to directly connect with potential customers and I think this has opened up the door for a lot of new businesses to set up shop here in Brooklyn. In conjunction with that you have the family run businesses that have been here in Brooklyn for generations and despite wars, recessions, and globalization, are able to stay open and make it work. Both kinds of stories are incredibly interesting to me and I think it's something that is worth shining some light on"

copper, I'm actually obsessed with you.

Thanks to the love of industrial looks,
polished concrete and "rusted" metals have officially
found a place in night clubs.

This once was parking lot is now a bumpin'

These copper pipes aren't just useless pieces of gorgeousness
some of this wrap itself around the space to act as a radiator as well.
Of course, the framework & decorative quality is about a 100x bonus.

HAPPY THURSDAY EVERYONE!

cow hides & plaid

Bavarian food.
(Bavaria is in Germany. I had to Google that)

Once I knew the definition, the first thing I thought of was...
BEER. SAUSAGES. HEARTY AND WARM.

This space is all of that and then some.
Hearty and homey for sure, but also filled with some
cute and fresh elements.

This place is a wood haven.
Cute wood detailing matched by cow hide upholstry.

The use of my new favorite material, copper, is pretty
much all over the place. The light fixtures (to be seen, keep scrolling!)
really pack a punch in this space.

Nothing in the space is particularly new and inventive
but the attention to detail in the place just makes every bit
of a difference.

i love (3D) geometry.

I should have done this when I still had access to a shop.
THIS IS GORGEOUS.
Maybe its my recent obsession with geometry
 ORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
these are actually as cute as can be : )

These were designed by LA based graphic designer
 Haley Ann Robinson.

These beautiful chunks of wood are sold at Totokaelo
a shop selling lots of cute and artsy fartsy fun things.

i love geometry.

I can`t speak for myself in Grade school.
But right now, I`m obsessed.

Real Beauty.

Hello friends!

It's been a while since I've been blogging...
BUT I'M BAACKkkkk.

'Dove' has done some brilliant work in trying to bring
new views to the word 'beauty'.
From their viral
photoshop beauty video (here) to just their use of
AVERAGE beautiful women instead of super models.
They've empowered women to look at themselves
and realize we're all so much more beautiful than we think we are.

New to the series is the Dove Real Beauty Sketches.

Watch & Share.

the new loft.

For THEEE longest time, the idea of a "Manhattan Loft" was quickly associated with:
brick, clean, sleek furniture & the occasional black chandelier.

Of course, now the (kinda) new spurred vintage craze & "industrial chic"has also made its way into our homes redefining the once upon a time
clean and "nothing old belongs in here" look.

ERIC GOODE:the man some would say he's the origin of New York Night Life
Located @ NoHo, Eric Goode's loft houses are comprised partially
of New York's Unforgettable nights.
If you're merely grossed out by ample amounts of
stuffed (literally) animals in here.
Please RREEEEEELLAX and note that the animals that all reside
here have died of natural causes.
(hence why PETA hasn't already smattered this house with blood)

''It had died and been taken to Preserve a Pet,
a company which preserves your pet in whatever position you want.
They freeze dry it for about six months''.

--origin of Bulldog.
